Braylon Edwards had gotten a bad rap after his famous incident with a friend of LeBron James, which was well-documented by just about every major sports outlet and NFL blog you can find. What hasn't received as much notoriety is Edwards footing the bill for 100 Cleveland High School kids to go to college, which Dennis Dillon of Sporting News reports will cost about $1 million in tuition.

Edwards promoted hard work and community involvement in the students, promising to pay for their tuition if they maintained a 2.5 grade point average and performed 15 hours of community service. He also encouraged the students to continue to help others.

It's nice to have some news to report other than the mess that is the NFL Lockout and athletes in trouble. Edwards hasn't exactly been "squeaky clean" during his time with the Jets, but he is making an effort to use his stature as a professional athlete to make a difference and should be applauded.
