The New York Jets added offensive tackle Paul Cornick on Thursday, adding some depth to their offensive line heading into training camp. Paul Cornick was a member of the North Dakota State team that won the FCS National Championship last season and earned AFCA All-America honors as a first-team selection. Paul Cornick went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft, but was present at the Jets rookie minicamp.

The New York Jets have brought in another offensive tackle, this time reaching into the ranks of the undrafted rookies to sign Paul Cornick of North Dakota State. Paul Cornick did participate in the Jets rookie minicamp, giving the team a chance to see him up close. He showed enough to warrant a contract and an invitation to training camp at SUNY Cortland later this month.

Paul Cornick is 6-6, 309, bringing nice size as an offensive tackle. He earned first-team All-America honors last season at North Dakota State, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision(formerly Division I-AA).

Paul Cornick brings some versatility to the table having played tackle and guard, has good length and balance and is a hard worker. He's an effort player who showed the ability to maintain contact up front while in college. He is a bit stiff and his height doesn't always help him, as he tends to play high. Some of that is attributed to a back injury, suggesting that it may not be correctable. Cornick also doesn't show great strength or power and is limited athletically, which may relegate him to playing right tackle.

Realistically, Paul Cornick looks like a project that could grow into a backup right tackle. There's a good chance he becomes a training camp casualty, and his ceiling seems to be as a practice squad member barring injuries during training camp.
