The New York Jets received some good news today as star cornerback Darrelle Revis was cleared to resume physical activity and as of right now is expected to play this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The concussion suffered by Darrelle Revis was one of the few negatives to come out of the thrashing of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, but now it seems as though all is well on Revis Island.
The Darrelle Revis concussion struck fear into the hearts of many New York Jets fans, but with Darrelle Revis being cleared to resume physical activity Jets fans can now let out a sigh of relief. Darrelle Revis is not out of the woods yet, as the increases in physical activity each day as a person recovers from a concussion can cause symptoms to come back and slow down the process. Still, it's an important first step towards Darrelle Revis stepping on the field Sunday when the jets visit the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to Jets head coach Rex Ryan, Darrelle Revis is cleared to play Sunday against the Steelers as of right now. As long as he doesn't relapse and have any symptoms flare up, he should be available when the Jets play in his home state this weekend. Having Darrelle Revis on the field will be big this weekend as the Steelers feature a talented group of receivers, especially Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown. Heath Miller will have to be accounted for by the safeties and linebackers, so it's important that the Jets don't have to give a ton of safety help to their cornerbacks.
Darrelle Revis was injured during the Jets' 48-28 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday when he was kicked in the head inadvertently. The Jets are going by standard concussion protocol and having him do light physical activity today. Expect tomorrow to be more intense physical activity before he returns to any football-related drills.
