The New York Jets cannot seem to get away from the injury bug, with running backs Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell the latest victims. Joe McKnight suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts, while Bilal Powell dislocated his shoulder. It was the best rushing performance of the season for the Jets, but two of the rushers involved in that performance are now injured. McKnight and Powell join a long list of Jets injuries this season.
The New York Jets were able to get their ground game churning in the 35-9 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, but they will likely be without two of their running backs this week when they face the New England Patriots. Joe McKnight has a high ankle sprain and Bilal Powell has a dislocated shoulder.
It is being reported that the Jets expect Bilal Powell to miss Sunday's game. Joe McKnight hasn't been officially ruled out yet, but high ankle sprains usually usually take at least a few weeks to heal. Don't expect Joe McKnight to play this week either. It's tough to see these two players go down as they have been making strides lately and the Jets were finding more ways to get the ball in their hands.
That leaves the Jets with Shonn Greene, who rushed for a career-high 161 yards and three touchdowns against the Colts, and Jonathan Grimes. Jonathan Grimes has no NFL experience. Look for the Jets to scour the market for a potential pickup at running back, basically a body to serve as an emergency back if needed. We might also see more Lex Hilliard in certain situations that call for his skill set – pass protection, for instance.
