The NFL trading deadline came and went yesterday afternoon, and Tim Tebow is still with the New York Jets. With many suggesting the Jets should get rid of Tim Tebow, the team will now have him on the roster at least through the end of this season. It will be Tony Sparano's job to figure out how the Jets can get more out of Tim Tebow and the bye week should give him some extra time to develop a better way to utilize his talents.

What can Tony Sparano and the New York Jets offense get out of Tim Tebow? Tim Tebow has been used sparingly throughout the first half of the season, with the Jets skidding to a 3-5 record and their offense struggling to do much of anything. The Jets could use a spark on that side of the ball, or at least some kind of infusion of playmaking talent.

The bye week offers teams a chance to take a step back and self scout, and then make adjustments based on what they find. Beyond specific findings, the Jets are going to have to realize that they simply aren't getting it done on offense. The defense is holding up its end of the bargain but they are constantly being hung out to dry by the offense.

The Jets aren't going to hand over the starting quarterback job to Tim Tebow, nor should they. The Jets need to let Mark Sanchez definitively sink or swim. But they also need to change something quickly. The arguments against the use of Tim Tebow have been eliminated by the ineptitude demonstrated by the Jets offense so far. Inserting Tim Tebow into the game won't be disrupting the rhythm of the offense because there is no rhythm. Mark Sanchez has completed just 53 percent of his passes this season, so he has done anything but make a case to remain on the field at all times.

It's Tebow Time. Maybe not full-fledged Tebow Time, but it's time for something new. The Jets are short on offensive talent and Tim Tebow can gain yards and make plays. At this point, what is there to lose?
