On Tuesday morning the New York Jets released running back Kahlil Bell, freeing up a roster spot for their most glaring need, wide receiver. It has fueled reports that the Jets are planning on bringing back Braylon Edwards, recently released from the Seahawks, clearing injury waivers. We will report once he signs, but he has not as of yet.

In releasing Kahlil Bell, who's only major playing time consisted of a fumble against the Cardinals that fortunately didn't cost the Jets, they free up one spot on the 53 man roster. The injury to the knee of rookie wide receiver Stephen Hill certainly looked pretty serious on Sunday. We would expect he will certainly miss the Jets next game Monday night at Tennessee and possibly the remainder of the regular season. Since Clyde Gates is still recovering from his concussion and Dustin Keller his hamstring, though both are expected back Monday, the Jets looked very thin in the receiving corps. It was surprising Sunday that rookie Jordan White was inactive in favor of the newly signed Marty Gilyard, but Gilyard may have been able to grasp Tony Sparano's offense quicker.

Now that Braylon Edwards has seemingly cleared through being an injury waiver from Seattle the speculation is high that the Jets, who did show immediate interest, are a lock to sign him for the remainder of the season. Considering that he and Mark Sanchez had a good rapport when Edwards last played for the Jets in 2010 it would seem that this fills a need for both sides. The only downside was Edwards recent criticism of the Jets front office:

"Don't blame Sanchez. I played there. Blame the idiots calling shots," Edwards tweeted after Sanchez was benched against the Cardinals. He apologized in a tweet, saying it was an "emotional" outburst.

On Monday the Jets did sign a wide receiver, Titus Ryan, to the practice squad, along with linebacker JoJo Dickson, after working him out along with two others at receiver. The initial report was found in Rich Cimini's article at To make room on the practice squad, DT Matt Hardison and WR Eddie McGee were released.
