The New York Jets cleared some hurdles on Sunday towards making an unlikely playoff push, and they didn't even take the field. The Jets will visit the Tennessee Titans tomorrow night on Monday Night Football, but the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans both offered big-time help to Rex Ryan and the green and white by taking care of some of the other AFC playoff hopefuls. Now, the Jets have to make sure they take care of their own business and beat a 4-9 Titans team.

Not many would have pictured this a few weeks ago, but the New York Jets have a great shot at being right in the thick of the playoff picture heading into the final two weeks of the 2012 NFL season. Without Darrelle Revis. Without Santonio Holmes. And with Braylon Edwards.

The Dallas Cowboys knocked off the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime just a few minutes ago, completing a beautiful Sunday for New York Jets fans. Earlier in the day the Houston Texans took out the Indianapolis Colts, leaving the Jets still in position to potentially grab the fifth of the sixth playoff seed in the AFC.

We detailed what needed to happen in our article on Jets playoff scenarios on Saturday and it all went right. Now it's time for the jets to handle their own business on Monday night. They should be buoyed by the fact that the team is still in the hunt, taking on a Tennessee Titans team that has no hope of making the playoffs.Of course, nothing is a given with this Jets team and they are just as likely to lay an egg as they are to plat lights out. The most likely scenario is a grind-it-out nail-biter that will raise the collective blood pressure of the Jets faithful.

But, as long as it ends with a win, the Jets will still be alive.
