Percy Harvin is still apparently on the trade market, with rumors still swirling around the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver. Back in the regular season there was talk about the New York Jets being interested. With all of the focus on the lack of offensive firepower, the Jets seem like a team that should be in the mix for a potential Percy Harvin trade. Is there a match?

The New York Jets need weapons on offense. Minnesota Viking wide receiver Percy Harvin is a weapon and he wants out of Minnesota unless he gets a new deal. But are the two sides a match for a potential deal?

Probably not.

The issue is the way Percy Harvin would fit into the Jets offense. Percy Harvin is best suited off the line of scrimmage and is another wide receiver that makes catches around the line of scrimmage and turns them into big runs after the catch. If anything he's more of a slot receiver or a "Z," and the Jets already have two pretty good options at those spots in Jeremy Kerley and Santonio Holmes.

The other problem would be the salary cap implications. Any team would want to have a new contract in place before acquiring Percy Harvin. Ian Rapoport has reported that the Vikings would be lucky to get more than a third rounder in return. The only contract that could offset the Jets issues in fitting a new deal under the cap would be Darrelle Revis, and that would do nothing to help the 2013 cap as the Jets would still eat his 2013 salary. Plus, it's more important for the Jets to get draft picks they can turn into cheap contributors on rookie contracts in return for Darrelle Revis, as opposed to another big salary.

While the Jets need a playmaker, this isn't a fit. The team has more pressing issues, and the issue at wide receiver doesn't require another big contract. The Jets can't afford it.
